KNOW AMOUNT OF CEMENT BAGS FOR YOUR ROAD STABILIZATION
Soil is one of nature’s most abundant construction
materials.Almost all construction is built with or upon soil. When unsuitable
construction conditions are encountered, a contractor has four Options
- Find a
new construction site,
- Redesign
the structure so it can be constructed on the poor soil,
- Remove
the poor soil and replace it with good soil,
- Improve
the engineering properties of the site soils.
Option (4) Improving an on-site(in situ) soil’s
engineering properties is referred to either “soil modification” or “soil
stabilization”.
Let’s get a small glance in Highway construction on how
to Calculate the amount of stabilizer agent specifically here cement bags per
square meter for either C1,C2 or CM Layer.
As an Engineer you need to have the following Data from
the laboratory test,
1. Maximum
Dry Density(MDD),
2. Optimum
Moisture content(OMC)
3. Cement
content% for your desired UCS value.
EXAMPLE;
Material:
MDD:2000
OMC:14%
CEMENT CONTENT: 4%
Your need to know;
- According to your Operator Experience and Equipment the
maximum distance you can mix per day.
Lets say, from K25+000 to K25+500
500 Meter per day
·
The total width and thickness of your road,
Carriageway + shoulders= 9.5 Meter
Thickness= 0.15m
QUANTITY:
Volume of materials(Soil)= 500m*0.15m*9.5m=712.5M3.
Mass of materials(Soil)= 712.5M3* 2000
=1,425,000Kg.
Amount of Cement=1,425,000 Kg* 0.04=57,000Kg.
Cement Bags=57,000Kg/50Kg.=1,140 Bags
AREA:
Total Area =9.5m*500m=4750m2
Cement Bags/Square Meter=4750m2/1,140 Bags=4.2m2/1
Bag.
Half road width + shoulder=4.75m
4.2m2/4.75m=0.88m
One
Bag of Cement Cover Area: 4.75m * 0.88m= 4.2m2
